Congratulations! You’ve finally booked that dream group trip you’ve been fantasizing about. Now that your dates are locked in, it’s time to pack. What should you bring on this Contiki adventure? Here are some essential items I recommend bringing on your next trip.
#1 Clothing
Packing the right items for your trip is crucial, especially on a fast-paced adventure like Contiki. With multiple stops and frequent packing and unpacking, choose versatile outfits that suit various activities during your stay. Opt for casual, mix-and-match clothing that’s comfortable and easy to wear. Consider packing wrinkle-free items since you may want to do laundry and refresh your wardrobe between stops, even more so on trips longer than two weeks. Plan to pack enough while also keeping in mind the option to do laundry at some of your accommodations along the way.
#2 Electronics
Don’t forget your essentials: smartphone (of course!), cameras if necessary, and most importantly, a portable charger and universal wall adapter. Your smartphone will keep you updated on meeting times, group messages, and capture memorable moments while traveling. It also serves as your portable GPS and map. With all the usage throughout the day, a portable charger is essential. Opt for a lightweight option that you can carry everywhere.
When choosing a universal wall adapter, ensure it supports the voltage of the international countries you’re visiting. Different countries have varying charging standards, so verify that your adapter can handle the voltage to charge your devices safely. Trust me, the last thing you want is to overload the only outlet in your hostel room and be left without power for the night. Your roommates won’t appreciate it—take it from personal experience!
#3 Travel Accessories
Travel accessories that should definitely make your packing list include a small travel pillow or something that can convert into one, over-ear headphones, and an eye mask for sleeping. The travel pillow is especially handy since some hostels provide pillows that aren’t the most comfortable. If you’re staying in hostels, a travel pillow is a must-have.
Over-ear headphones are great for enjoying some alone time and tuning out distractions, especially on bus rides. They provide better sound quality for listening to music or podcasts, allowing you to relax and unwind.
This is a crucial accessory, if you’ll be spending a lot of time on buses and on the road. An eye mask not only blocks out distractions during bus rides but also ensures better rest in hostels where unexpected lights can disrupt your sleep.
These are the essentials I’d pack for the next Contiki trip. These recommendations are key items I’d advise myself to pack smartly, lightly, and ensure I have everything to manage it. Most importantly, enjoy your vacation to the fullest!!!
Travel smart, live inspired
Jessika 🙂
